Kath is not only a local legend, but a respected folk/roots singer-songwriter, known for her topical lyrics, compelling live performances, and soulful voice. A unique blend of British Folk and Americana, her original songs are written with honesty and empathy, which she has developed throughout her impressive public service career.
From her roots as a social worker in Manchester to becoming the first female leader of Burnley council, and even pioneering a famed Gong Sound Bath in Hebden Bridge, Kath has devoted her life to helping and healing others and standing up for the rights of the oppressed through both her actions and her music.
Now it is our turn to show Kath our appreciation for all the incredible work she has done over the last 60+ years. For one night only, we will be celebrating Kath’s latest single, ‘Bridestones’, a song that honours the beauty of the West Yorkshire Moors and the people who have experienced their magic – past, present, and future. Recorded and produced by Dan Capon, this poignant song features multiple local artists, including Damien Barber on vocals and concertina, Dom Dudill on fiddle, and Dan himself on vocals and recorder.
The Bridestones – Rugged Natural Beauty, Steeped in History
The event is proud to be associated with Bridestones Rewilded, a wonderful charity that is dedicated to conserving the Bridestones and surrounding moors. With performances from special guests, Paul Reade, Hazjak, Brian Toberman, Butcher’s Dog, and Damien Barber, the night will culminate in a showstopping performance by Kath herself. Additionally, you will have the rare chance to hear ‘Bridestones’ performed almost exactly as it is recorded, with most of the ‘Skylarks’ together on one stage.
To commemorate the evening, we have a Launch Party Exclusive vinyl available to purchase. There are only 30 available, so make sure you get there early if you want one! These beautiful, white 7″ records have a bonus song on side B and an attractive sleeve designed by talented local artist, Loz Sandom. They will be hand-numbered and signed personally by Kath on the night.
